Currently, I work at a digital marketing agency where I write blogs, create email marketing campaigns, draft and send out press releases, and handle sales emails and calls to help spread the word about the business. The agency covers everything from website design and social media management to Google Analytics and website migration, so it’s a dynamic environment that keeps me on my toes.
A Game of Chess
Here’s the thing—digital marketing is a bit like playing chess. You make the right move, and you hit the mother lode. It’s all about figuring out what connects with people, what makes them click (literally and figuratively).
Take my most viral piece of content: a goodbye letter for a restaurant that had been in business for over 40 years. The place was closing, and people came out of the woodwork to share their memories. That letter hit hard. It felt bittersweet because, yeah, the restaurant was shutting down, but seeing the community support made me once again realize the impact of community and the power of words.
Then there was the mac and cheese blog—that was a fun one. I compared redesigning a website to redesigning the Kraft™ Mac and Cheese box. The analogy worked better than I expected, and even a couple of my co-workers told me they liked how I tied it together. Writing gives me a creative outlet, but I’ll admit, trying to stay original when the internet is packed with information isn’t easy.
The Internet is Full of Noise, But I’ve Got Stories to Share
The internet is a crowded place, but I’ve got my own stories. I plan on sharing some of my experiences as a Community Organizer, running a Latino newspaper and website, and even my time as a Clerk-Typist III for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Writing is my creative outlet, and I hope these stories connect with you.
If any of this hits home, feel free to leave a comment. By the way, the image does not reflect where I work. I just thought wouldn’t it be neat to work in a place like War Games (an 80s movie—look it up). Let’s talk.
